The mountains are coming to London! The BMC is excited to be partners of the first and only resident Mountain Film Festival in London, which launches this year on 2-3 May 2020 at the Royal Geographical Society and will feature a number of awesome UK premieres!
Calling all adventurers, come gather together at the London Mountain Film Festival to inspire each other to further adventures this year! Whether climbers, mountaineers, wild swimmers, kayakers, mountain bikers, endurance athletes, fell runners, surfers or something even wilder, there's something everyone will want to watch at London's new festival.
Although Greater London has been a competitive hotbed for touring Festivals over the years, London now has a festival to call its own. Visitors can immerse themselves for a decent period of time in a dynamic environment – and it’s slap-bang in the heart of London at an iconic and awe-inspiring venue.
The judging process for films is already underway with speakers assisting in the final selection for the programme. Visitors can dip in for a four-hour visiting session and see a selection of speakers and films – or, they can opt for a full day or weekend pass.
In addition to these incredible and inspiring films, there are many speakers sharing their stories through a mix of interviews and presentations:
Grab your tickets as soon as you can! The UK premiere of Pretty Strong by the Never Not Collective is coming to the festival and we can't wait.
From the climbing world, guests include Paul Pritchard, Doug Scott, Mick Fowler and Chris Bonington, with Hazel Findlay and Pete Whittaker meeting up for a special double interview on Sunday.
For endurance athletes and adventurers, Anna McNuff, Sean Conway and Steve Birkinshaw are all making an appearance, with Virgin Radio’s very own Vassos Alexander hosting proceedings on the Saturday night.
We’ll also have exciting exhibitions and stalls, book signings, festival food and drink, and plenty of attractions for visitors to engage with.
Festival CEO Greg Hackett says: “At first, it seemed an ambitious idea for a flat city to have a mountain festival. But I’m delighted to report that tickets are already selling well, and the response from the public and from the speaker community has been fantastic and very supportive.
“The plan is to start large and get bigger, with events in 2021 to happen over multiple sites. And since London has the biggest concentration of climbers and adventurers in Europe, we’re very motivated by the potential.”
This year, the event is across the entire ground floor space of the RGS, and brands, retailers and other organisations are welcome to get involved with a variety of sponsorship and exhibiting opportunities onsite. Strong content is at the heart of the event, and we invite sponsors to align themselves with this and get close to customers who are qualified by ticket spend in a space that is true to the experience.
We can’t wait to welcome you to the festival – sign up for updates, see our full speaker line-up, watch film trailers and get your tickets on the Festival website.
