Montane and BMC discount scheme to change following feedback from BMC members and independent retailers.
This October, Montane became the BMC’s recommended clothing and pack partner. This new partnership enables Montane to support the BMC’s vital access, conservation, safety and youth work, by giving financial support at a time when government funding for sport is being reduced by changes to Sport England funding.
As part of the partnership, BMC members and volunteers could access discounts directly through Montane’s website. However, following feedback from retailers and BMC members, Montane has amended this benefit to further support British independent retailers.
Terry Stephenson, Head of Marketing at Montane, explains:
“In recent years, independent retailers have operated in an increasingly turbulent and crowded marketplace. Since 1993, Montane has been supported and nurtured by a network of UK independent retailers, so we have listened carefully to their concerns and have amended the scheme to support them.
“Montane is committed to our partnership with the BMC and we are still delighted to be recognised as their recommended clothing and pack partner, but discounted rates to BMC members or volunteers will come to an end at midnight on Sunday 12 November 2017. We would like to apologise for this withdrawal, but believe the revised scheme will better support a thriving and fair retail landscape in the UK – and we know the BMC membership will understand the importance of that.”
Montane is currently working with the BMC on a series of exciting new projects for 2018 and beyond, including supporting our Mountain Skills tepee at Keswick Mountain Festival and a series of BMC TV mountain skills films.
How to use your Montane discount
All BMC members can access a discount of 15% on Montane clothing and equipment. Visit one of the retailers that stock Montane and show your BMC membership card to get the discount. A full list of Montane UK stockists can be found on their website. Montane is also stocked by BMC recommended retailer Cotswold Outdoor.
We want to say a big thanks to every BMC member who continues to support us through the Coronavirus crisis.
