Southern Gritstone
Reasonable quality rock, with routes up to 25m long. Unfortunately it is surrounded by trees, is being quarried away at the right and the owner isn't keen on climbers being there. Just worth the effort of a visit for the impressive Private Targets (E1 5b) and Speak the Truth (E5/6 6b).
As of late 2023 it is reported that active quarrying has resumed. For now access is not feasible and an assessment will need to be made of how quarrying has affected existing routes at such time as access becomes possible again.
Parking and Approach
From the A6 at Darley Dale follow the B5057 (signposted Two Dales) and take the secong left (Park Lane then Hall Moor Road). Continue up the hill into trees. park at a small Water Board building labelled Bent Lane. Walk back and follow a track (blocked by iron bar) on the left for 500m.
