BMC Junior British Bouldering Championships 2022

The BMC Junior British Bouldering Championships will take place on 21 & 22 May 2022.

The competition will be held at Mile End Climbing Wall- there is limited space at the venue and this will be prioritised for competitors. There will be no specatators at this event.

As a National competition, the Junior British bouldering championships are of a higher standard than the bouldering found in the BMC Youth Climbing Series (YCS). It is aimed at young climbers who may be just starting to compete, those who are trying for selection to the GB Squad, and through to British Squad members being selected for international competitions. 

Categories: Youth A, B, C and Junior

Saturday 21 May - Qualification- All categories

Sunday 22 May - Finals- All categories

It is strongly recommended that you use public transport to access this centre. The closest tube station is Mile End which serves Central, District, and Hammersmith and City Lines. There is also a regular Bus service. There is a small car park at the centre and Permit parking on all the roads in the surrounding area.

Format

Eight bloc scramble format with 2.5 hours to attempt all blocs. There is a maximum of five attempts on each bloc.

Top 6 in each category will proceed to the final.

Competitor numbers will be restricted to 300 per day. There is no room for spectators at this event. We have all the required volunteers for this event.

Entry

Fee: £35

All competitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by one parent/guardian only, but loco parentis can be used where required. If a parent/guardian, spectator or coach volunteers to assist in the running of the competition on the day, this will be in addition to the accompanying adult.

Late entries will not be accepted.

To enter you must complete our online booking form, with successful payment, by the entry deadline. Forms without payment will NOT be accepted.

All competitors MUST be a current member of the BMC, Mountaineering Ireland and Mountaineering Scotland to enter.

Early Registration is open to all categories on Friday 20 May 2022 from 5-8pm,

Warm up is available from 8am on Saturday 21 May

Timetable:

Saturday 21 May:

Registration: Saturday 21 May 2022, 8:00am- 16:00pm

Junior Qualification: 8:30am -11am

Youth A Qualification: 11:15am-13:45pm

Youth B Qualification: 14:00pm- 16:30pm

Youth C Qualification: 16:30pm-19:00pm 

Sunday 22 May:

Isolation Opens: 9:00am and Closes at 10am for Youth C and Youth B

Isolation Opens 13:30 and Closes at 14:30 for Youth A and Junior

Finals start at 10:30am and will run in the order of Youth C, Youth B, Youth A and Junior

Youth C Finals Start at 10:40 and finish at 11:40 with the Podium at 11:55

Youth B Finals Start at 12:50 and finish at 13:50 with the Podium at 14:00

Youth A Finals Start at 15:10 and finish at 16:10 with the Podium at 16:20

Junior Finals Start at 16:55 and finish at 17:55 with the Podium at 18:10

Warning: This provisional schedule has to be confirmed once registration has closed and will depend of the number of registered athletes per category

We have all the required volunteers for this event. Anyone not listed as volunteering will not be permitted entry to the competition area.

Cancellation policy

  • If you cancel less than five business days before the competition - you will not be entitled to a refund.
  • If you cancel more than five business days before the competition - you will receive a 50% refund.
  • If the competition is cancelled due to an unforeseen circumstance - you will be entitled to a full refund.
