Live winter monitoring conditions
The BMC have several winter monitoring systems set up around England and Wales bringing you live ground conditions from across Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Lake District so climbers can make the most informed decision before heading out for a winter climbing day.
Apply for a BMC grant
The BMC has limited funds available to provide grants for international expeditions. These funds have been split into two separate funding streams. The first is to support British people from under-represented groups going on mountaineering expeditions. The second is to support British people going on innovative high- level mountaineering expeditions.

OutdoorHer
OutdoorHer is a resource for everyone who is looking to learn more about women's health and kit requirements in the outdoors, from participants to leaders and allies. Inspired by conversations with walkers, climbers and leaders about managing their periods, menopause and toileting when out in the wild, BMC and Mountain Training have created some simple ‘how-to’ guides that go through these topics and more.
Subsidised Conville Courses
Jonathan Conville Memorial Trust alpine mountaineering courses are heavily subsidised courses for aspiring mountaineers aged 18 to 30 year olds. With 50% of the course cost met by the Trust, these provide a great introduction for aspiring mountaineers.
Find an AMI Technical Expert
Many AMI full members are qualified and experienced to be Technical Experts in mountaineering, rock climbing and other related activities as defined by the Adventure Activity Licensing Regulations. Organisations running climbing walls, high ropes courses or other climbing-related activities also employ advisors to ensure that the best possible standards of practice are being met. The Association of Mountaineering Instructors has a Technical Experts list where you can search by location and service.
Advice for those travelling at altitude
Medical Expeditions has produced a booklet which is freely available to anyone. It is written in very simple English and has lots of practical advice for those venturing to altitude.
