Trusts & Charities
We need your help
The BMC has three charities that really need your help: the Access and Conservation Trust (ACT), Land and Property Trust (LPT) and Mountain Heritage Trust (MHT).
As well as becoming a BMC member, we need your help to support these charities so any donations you can make are much appreciated and will go towards a whole range of hill walking, climbing and mountaineering access, conservation, maintenance and preservation activities.
For example, it costs £250 to repair just one metre of footpath and £1,000 to fly in a bag of stone to an inaccessible mountain location.

Access & Conservation Trust
The BMC's Access & Conservation Trust currently funds two fantastic campaigns - Mend Our Mountains (footpath repair across England and Wales) and The Climate Project (sphagnum and seagrass planting), both vitally important for hikers, mountaineers, climbers, the environment and the wild places we love to escape to.
Land & Property Trust
The BMC owns eight crags across England and Wales and actively supports the management of several others for the benefit of climbers. Owning and managing land is a major responsibility which takes time and costs money. For this, we employ a part-time Land & Property Manager supported by expert, local volunteers in our Land Management Group and the BMC Land & Property Trust.
Mountain Heritage Trust
From the first rock climbs on Napes Needle, to daring first ascents in the Greater Ranges and incredible feats of athleticism; the Mountain Heritage Trust archive of films, images, books and artefacts echoes with Britain’s most iconic achievements and boldest personalities. Mountain Heritage Trust safeguards the stories, traditions, and legacies woven into these rugged landscapes.
