The BMC Climbing Wall Manual is a mine of useful information and will answer many of your questions. It will, of course, also raise many other questions. So the first step is to buy a copy of the BMC Climbing Wall Manual, available from the online shop or by phoning the office.
The BMC recommends that climbing walls use the standard registration form that is available in the Wall Manager's Pack. This registration form is for Unsupervised Adult climbers and reinforces the BMC's believe that a competent climber should be allowed to use a climbing wall without being tested for competency.

Yes it will almost definitely need some sort of safety inspection to check all the anchors and load bearing structure, this can normally be done by the company that built the wall or one of the members of the Climbing Wall Manufacturers Association. For lots more information please click here.
