BMC Local Areas: democracy in action

Posted by Tony Ryan on 30/10/2012

The dates and venues for the BMC's Local Area meetings in November are almost finalised. Everyone is welcome to attend and pre booking may not always be essential. These meetings are where local climbers and walkers can gather and chat, find out about local and national goings on and raise issues of concern with the BMC who can perhaps then take it the next level.

All areas have meetinsg thoughout the year. They are generally sociable affairs with food often laid on and a good atmosphere to go with that. They almost always take place in a good pub serving fine ales, or a climbing wall with discounted entry for the night. One of them even takes place in a brewery, nuff said.

A summary of the meetings is below, with a link to the BMC Community Site at teh bottom where you can log in and get exciting things like agendas and minutes and bolting and fixed gear and windfarms and buying crags and cleanups and grumpy landowners and...well, you see there's lots going on. Come along and join in with everyone else.
