The Women's Ready to Rock courses are designed to help women indoor climbers to make their first moves onto rock by having a fun day out as well as covering the use of some key skills and equipment.
To take advantage of these courses, you will need to have been climbing indoors a few times already. You will need to be able to put on and adjust a harness, tie in to the rope and belay a climbing partner.
What do they cover?
A variety of topics will be covered during the day as well as offering a fun taster to outdoor climbing. Topics may include:
Types of trad climbing equipment
Placing good protection
Building good belays
Using guidebooks
Seconding/top roping
Who are they for?
These courses are ideal for novice climbing club members, students, parents and individuals who may have had the odd taster of climbing outdoors and wish to gain key safety skills at an excellent price. They may also be a good precursor for people contemplating the Rock Climbing Instructor Award training. You should already know how to put on a harness and belay. These courses are for people aged 18 or older.
Who will be the instructing?
The instructors for these courses are very experienced women climbers who hold an MCI or WMCI and are members of the AMI (Association of Mountaineering Instructors). The name and contact of the instructor delivering the course can be found next to the venue they are delivering the course.
Cost
Courses cost only £60 per person. We normally have a maximum of 8 places on these days but due to CV-19 the numbers may be reduced and will depend on government guidance at the time. It is also possible to have the instructor to yourself for the day, you can contact the instructor via the email links below to discuss this option.
Duration
The course will run from 10.00 am until 17.00
