What’s New

Surrounding the Lake District are the crags of the Eden Valley & South Lakes Limestone. A major attraction of the limestone and sandstone crags and quarries described in this guide is that their climbs may often remain dry when those in the National Park are not. Important crags described include Chapel Head Scar and Armathwaite, but numerous lesser known crags also give plenty of scope within easy reach of the Lakes, ideal venues to save a wet day or as evening crags for locals.

The whole peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is famous for its spectacular coastline and unspoilt beaches but the inland hills and ridges are also rich in wildlife, striking geology and archaeological and historical sites. Think the Munros are too difficult?  Think again. Volume 2 of Baffie’s Easy Munro Guide covers the Central Highlands, including Ben Nevis and Glen Coe. The official navigation book for all mountain training schemes.
