Horseshoe Quarry's 'Star Trek Wall' gets a facelift thanks to AMI volunteers

A group of volunteers from the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) recently spent a weekend carrying out work to replace the old bolts on Star Trek Wall, a short but popular wall with beginners and groups at Horseshoe Quarry, above the ramp overlooking Main Wall.

Five things we learned from rebolting Horseshoe

The mammoth project of re-equipping the routes on BMC land at Horseshoe Quarry has just finished. With a huge number of bolts replaced, loose rock removed and funds raised by you lovely lot, we’ve hopefully improved the experience for visitors to this ever popular sport crag. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who donated to the Horseshoe Heroes crowdfunder – we couldn’t have done it without you!

We did it! £16,200 pledged for Horseshoe Heroes

A huge thank you to all the Horseshoe Heroes that pledged to the BMC Crowdfunder campaign to help make the quarry a safer place to climb. Over £16,000 was pledged by more than 500 Horseshoe Heroes: it was awesome to see the level of support from everybody!

Horseshoe rebolting project kicks off

Our re-bolting project at Horseshoe Quarry is up and running this week with rope access contractors likely to be on site until the end of September. The project will be removing the existing bolts on the BMC owned part of the crag and replacing them with new, high quality and long lasting stainless steel glue in’s.
