BMC Organisational Review Group Newsletter: July 2017

The July newsletter from the independent BMC Organisational Review Group, featuring the steps the review group has decided upon taking before making any recommendations for changes.

There are seven members of the Organisational Review Group Committee and throughout July we have been putting the finishing touches to the membership survey and continuing the process of focus group meetings.

At a focus group meeting we ask a series of questions which are designed to enable the participants to give their views on the BMC, its organisational structure and how it functions as a representative body.

The basic idea behind the focus group is to obtain feedback from people who know how the BMC operates and that will help us “The Review Group” when it comes to making recommendations for the future.

We have completed a number of these focus group meetings including:

• The members of National Council
• The area committees
• The patrons and past presidents of the BMC
• The staff of the BMC
• The committee chairs.

There are a number of other groups still outstanding and we will try to complete these in August 2017. It may be logistically difficult, however, to meet with all our targeted focus groups and an alternative method of obtaining precisely the same feedback is by completing the membership survey.

The survey was launched on 21st July 2017 by an independent survey company instructed by the Organisational Review Group and we hope that all those members who are concerned about the future of the BMC will participate by completing the questionnaire.
