Aldery Cliff

About the crag

A sunny and friendly crag set in beautiful rolling limestone scenery near Earl Sterndale, Derbyshire. A secluded little backwater, 1 minute’s walk from your car with a pleasant selection of slabby routes in the Severe to HVS range. Bought by the BMC in 1984 with funds raised to commemorate former President of the Yorkshire Mountaineering Club, John Midgely.

Site management

Extensive restoration and improvement undertaken work in recent years, including landscaping, tree clearance, improvements to the parking area and placement of bolt belays on many of the routes.
