GB Climbing Team Fundraising and Support

As a developing national team the GB Climbing Team is managed within a finite funding envelope and as such we are not able to provide support to athletes at all events throughout the season. We are grateful for the support of our partners which enables us to do more for our climbers at more events.

Other ways the climbers and team can be supported is through individual donations, which we also receive.

As we move into the final stages of the season additional donations will enable the team to increase coaching and infrastructure support at competitions for the remainder of the 2024 providing the best opportunity for our climbers to achieve their potential.

Thank you.

GB Climbing Performance Team and The BMC

The BMC is the National Governing Body and the home of competition climbing, as well as the National Governing Body for competition Ski Mountaineering (Ski Mo), in the UK. We manage national and international competition events in the UK and proudly promotes the future of our sport. The GB Climbing performance department manages the GB Climbing teams, talent and performance pathways. BMC Ski Mo Steering Group managed the GB Ski Mo Racing teams, talent and performance pathways.

In the summer of 2021 in Tokyo, climbing became an Olympic sport for the first time. Climbers competed in the combined event of three disciplines: Lead, Boulder and Speed climbing. At Paris 2024, and beyond, speed climbing is now a medal event of its own, separated from a combined Lead and Boulder competition. Inclusion as an Olympic Sport has catalysed funding into the GB National Team through the National Governing Body.

In winter 2026 in Italy, Ski Mo racing will become an Olympic sport for the first time. There will be two Olympic Ski Mo racing disciplines split across the three events in Milano-Cortina 2026: the Sprint competitions (featuring both men and women's competitions) and the Mixed Relay. Just 26 athletes - 18 men and 18 women - will make the cut to compete across the two disciplines. Inclusion as an Olympic Sport has catalysed funding into the GB National Team through the National Governing Body.
