The BMC’s Regional Access Database – or RAD as it’s more snappily known – is the definitive source of access info on the web. From bird restrictions and parking advice to sensitive approaches and advice on local ethics, this is the place to go to find out whether you can climb on a crag and just how to approach it.
Available as an app and on desktop, you can search for crags, report an access problem and mark crags as favourites for quick access updates on your dashboard.

Guide for new rock climbers

There are a range of courses, lectures, workshops and training opportunities that the BMC organises to bring the best value possible to its members. Guidebooks
Definitive and selected guidebooks are available for all major climbing areas. The route description will provide some idea of what’s in store. Phrases such as ‘a bold slab’ imply limited protection. Conversely, ‘a well-protected climb’ would be more suited for the beginner.
