Pen y Fan Clean Up Cwm Llwch
Pen-Y-Fan, one of the most iconic mountain in South Wales, needs your help. Cwm Llwch is a tricky to access area and it's full of waste.
Details
Date and Time: Saturday 28th March. 9am - 16.30
Meeting Location: Nant Cwm Llwch
Distance: 3km
We will be meeting at Nant Cwm Llwch, and heading up to Llyn Cwm Llwch itself, in the shadow of Pen Y Fan and Corn Ddu, sadly this beautiful Cwm is streaming with pollution that has blown from the summits.
With difficult to reach areas and of the main paths, we are looking for experienced hill walkers and mountaineers to help begin the removal of pollution to help protect the upland ecology.
The initial walk to Llyn Cwm Llwch is just under 3km, depending on the weather and how much pollution we are able to carry, we may walk back out the same way.
As well as collecting pollution (plastic, tins, wrappers all break down and damage our environments), we will also be surveying it to help us build evidence to support the deposit return scheme that hopefully will be arriving in Wales in October 2027 and also to bring in legislation for Extended Producer Responsibility.
