Yorkshire Dales Social Walk | 18th October
Join us for a walk to the summit of Great Whernside.
Great Whernside offers wide-ranging views across Upper Wharfedale
Join Henry Grainger, Yorkshire Hill Walking Representative for the BMC, for a peer-led social walk from the village of Kettlewell to the summit of Great Whernside and back down into Wharfedale. The route begins in the heart of Kettlewell before climbing out through the lanes and enclosed fields towards Dowber Gill Beck, Providence Pot and Hag Dyke, then continues onto the open fell and the broad summit ridge of Great Whernside. At 704 metres, Great Whernside offers wide-ranging views across Upper Wharfedale, the Yorkshire Dales and, in clear conditions, towards some of the best-known hills of the region. This is a rewarding upland route for enthusiastic hill walkers, with some steep ground, exposed moorland and potentially wet or boggy sections, so participants should be comfortable with a full hill day in changeable conditions.
We’re excited to welcome you for a memorable day in the outdoors!
