Fida Hussain, a member of the BMC Equity Steering Group, has won the Regatta Hill Walking Hero award announced in December's Trail magazine.

Fida is a youth worker from Rochdale and was nominated by Aswad Hamid who completed his Duke of Edinburgh's Award with Fida.

Fida is a Mountain Leader and Duke of Edinburgh Leader.  He has worked in the mountains for over 25 years encouraging people to enjoy the hills, and hill and mountain walking.

Aswad said "Fida is an inspiration to us all.  Helping us to focus on the environment and on conservation".

One of Fida's major successes has been in working with mixed gender ethnic groups.  These are also issues that Fida is helping the BMC with in his position on the BMC Equity Steering Group.

Congratulations Fida from everyone at the BMC.
