BMC Lakes Area
About the Lakes Area
Welcome to the Lakes area. We have four meetings a year and welcome all. The meetings are an open forum style where everyone has a voice and we aim to debate the issues that concern you. It's also a good way to find out about crag clean ups, and hear about any re-bolting and access work taking place.

Upcoming Lakes Area meetings
Area Meetings are run by volunteers and provide an opportunity for you to discuss issues and influence decisions affecting climbers and walkers locally and nationally, and to meet like-minded people and enjoy a sociable night out (or 'in' on Zoom). Area Meetings also provide the platform for election to a range of volunteer roles within the BMC.

Lakes area volunteer roles available
Would you like to get more involved in the work of the BMC? If you are interested in a volunteer role, please come along to the relevant Area Meeting and speak with the current Chair or Secretary. If you are unable to attend please email volunteering@thebmc.co.uk and ask to be put in contact with your local area.
Area volunteers undertake vital roles in the democratic structure of the BMC and the work we do on behalf of members and the wider climbing, hill walking and mountaineering community. Each area holds an AGM, at which elections for a range of volunteer roles are held, and outside of these meetings, members can be co-opted into roles.

What happens at BMC local area meetings?
Bolts; wind farms; footpath erosion; crag clean-ups; access issues; dry tooling. If you want to make your voice heard about local climbing and walking issues, then come along to your next BMC area meeting. Here's how you can keep up to date with area meeting information.
