Mend Our Mountains: North York Moors
Roseberry Topping Path Restorations
The iconic, mini-Matterhorn-shaped Roseberry Topping is a much-loved, local landmark. As such, the 320m peak sees plenty of footfall and suffers from significant path erosion. Mend Our Mountains, along with other partners, will help to fund the restoration of 10 areas of unsafe, eroded footpath in dire need of repair around and towards the summit.
Erosion scars are now nearly 15m wide in places, near to the top of the hill, causing damage to important upland grass habitats and scarring this beautiful landscape. The path restoration work will help to accommodate an increasing number of visitors and improve access with a better surface, and also repair environmental and ecological damage.
