Snowdon Make-Over

Yr Wyddfa and Glaslyn from Crib Goch

On Saturday November 6th, Snowdonia Society is looking for experienced walkers and climbers to help with an autumn clean up of litter from the area around one of the highest lakes in Snowdonia.

On Saturday 6th November Snowdonia Society are organising their second litter pick on Snowdon.

Continuing from the very successful and popular day clearing litter from the Llanberis Path on Snowdon last month, the Society’s members will this time be clearing litter around Glaslyn, Snowdon’s highest lake.
The litter pick is on steeper ground and terrain and it’s hoped that climbers, hill-walkers and members of the BMC can come along and lend a hand, and help to give a little bit back to protect an area we treasure.
The volunteer group will be walking from the Pen Y Pass car park, up the Miner’s Track to the lake where they will collect litter and return back to the car park on the Miner’s Track. One group will pick litter from the side of the lake which fringes the path, another group will continue around the back of the lake to collect litter blown from the summit which is on more challenging terrain.

Snowdonia National Park Wardenswill assist in guiding the groups and disposing of the rubbish once collected. The intention this time is not to clear around Snowdon’s summit (Yr Wyddfa) but the steeper and more rugged terrain around Llyn Glaslyn. Access to the locations will be on foot for the ascent and descent.

Meet: 10am Pen Y Pass Car Park, we advise using the Sherpa bus service which leaves from a number of nearby towns, you can then park and ride to Pen Y Pass. Detail of Sherpa buses and timetables  here.

Bring:
Please come prepared for a day on Wales’ highest mountain with waterproofs, sturdy boots, warm clothes, a warm drink and packed lunch.

In order to have an idea of numbers please contact Snowdonia Society’s Conservation Snowdonia Volunteering Officer, Jenny Whitmore on 01286 685498, or by e-mail jenny@snowdonia-society.org.uk.
