Wales has different regulations to England in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic and consequently, the rules on travel, exercise and where we can go and who we can climb with, are quite different to those on the English side of the border. As lockdown evolves, access to the outdoors is now changing. However, this is still different in England, Wales and Scotland. In Wales, the emphasis and the law is still to stay at home unless you have a “reasonable excuse” to do so, and whether you can go climbing or hill-walking is unclear.

The award was established to commemorate the climbing achievements of Nick Estcourt, and to encourage future generations of expedition mountaineers.
