The BMC held Everest 70: Tales From Basecamp to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of the world's most celebrated mountain. Hosted by Niall Grimes and surrounded by Nepali-inspired art, the audience joined us in looking back at that first ascent and heard modern stories told against the backdrop of ancient conquest. Women's Trad Fest: what's this incredibly popular event all about?

The fourth annual Women's Trad Fest took place in the sunny Peak District last weekend. It’s a festival largely aimed at beginners and learners, many of whom can already climb but want to learn trad skills in a safe, friendly environment. This year it was run as a BMC event to deliver what must be one of the bigger climbing festivals of its type to be found anywhere.

Ape Index: Hard Grit Live

It seems incredible that the all-time classic climbing film, Hard Grit, is almost twenty years old this year. And in a spirit of milking the past for all it's worth, some of the people behind the film are getting together for a once-in-a-lifetime live event in Sheffield to remember the fun and spirit that went into the film, and the climbs that it spawned. April 1st – this ain’t no joke.
