Wilton Fest is a free, un-ticketed climbing festival for everyone from chiselled veterans to fresh faced newcomers.

Held in Lancashire's Wilton Quarries, Wilton Fest was founded in 2013 by BMC volunteers, and has run uninterrupted (pandemic excepted!) since then.

Climbing Masterclasses

Masterclasses will be delivered masterclasses across a range of skills, knowledge and ability. This Wilton Fest join the British Mountaineering Council's (BMC) Learn to Lead sessions with Steve McClure and Ian Dunn and take yourself from a capable second to a confident lead climber!

Note that masterclasses are a paid extra and must be booked in advance.

About the Learn to Lead Masterclass

The session will last for three hours and will be lead by either Steve McClure or Ian Dunn.

Morning sessions will begin at 10am and afternoon sessions will begin at 2pm.

What to bring to the Learn to Lead Climbing Masterclasses

• Personal rack and ropes if you have them

About the instructors

"Steve has been climbing for over half a century, with vast experience in both sport and trad climbing. He has onsighted E8's, headpointed E11's, climbed the UK's hardest sport route at 9b, as well as over 1000 routes of 8a and above. He has been teaching climbing for the last 25 years, often abroad in places like Sicily, Spain and Greece.. though his favourite is to work in the UK hills.. where the rock and our style is just so special"
