Local Area Access Rep

What does a BMC local area access rep do?

An BMC area rep is a locally knowledgeable climber/walker able to help resolve access issues and look after the crags and hills in your area. They contribute to keeping the crags and hills accessible for the whole community. This role could be shared or split (ie: walking access rep and climbing access rep or a specific crag rep)

Key tasks and responsibilities of the role

  • Alert BMC to access issues in their area
  • Provide BMC Access Officer with local knowledge
  • Work to resolve access issues
  • Attend landowner site meetings and maintain good relationships with landowners
  • You may also want to help organise: crag clean ups, fixed equipment maintenance and crag care, publicity and social media around the work being done and/or conservation volunteering
