Location

The Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut is located between Glencoe and Fort William, at North Ballachulish on the A82, in the Western Highlands. It is one mile north of the Ballachulish bridge, 50m past the entrance to Creag Mhor Lodge.

Grid reference NN044611 on OS sheet 41, Ben Nevis.

Postcode: PH33 6RY. Look out for the green painted fence.

The car park is at the rear of the building and is accessed from the main road via a narrow lane.

Accommodation

The hut can accommodate 16 people in 5 different bedrooms.

Upstairs: Two rooms with three beds and two rooms with Alpine style sleeping platforms.

Downstairs: One room with 1 bed.

Mattresses are provided, but no pillows or blankets. Facilities include a well-equipped kitchen, drying room and car park.

Who can book?

Only clubs and individual members affiliated to the British Mountaineering Council or Mountaineering Scotland may use the hut. Each club or individual member is allowed to bring one guest only.

The cost is currently £20 per person per night; 50% in advance, balance payable one month prior to the dates booked. Payment can be made by cheque or preferably via online transfer from your account via BACS; the bookings secretary will supply the necessary details.

Booking the entire hut

In the event that a club or group reserves the whole hut and has prepaid but still has vacant spaces, then those places should be given up to any member (individual or of other clubs) wanting accommodation on the day. The latter should book online and make payment to AMMH by bank transfer, not to the club or group providing the places.

Children

Parents with their children under 18, or adults acting in loco parentis with young persons under 18, can stay at the hut provided they are comfortable with the sharing arrangements.  Parents with their children, or adults acting in loco parentis with young persons, who are not willing to share the premises with strangers can, if they so choose, book and pay for all the places at the hut. NOTE: With the exception of assistance dogs, no dogs or other pets are allowed within the building.
