BMC Peak Area Meeting
Our next meeting includes a fantastic talk by Wes Cole Come to our next gathering of Peak climbers and walkers and get involved in the BMC.
The next BMC peak area meeting will be held in person, at 7pm on Wednesday 6th May at at Outside Cafe, Main Rd, Hathersage, Hope Valley S32 1BB
The meeting will take place in the Cafe upstairs.
Area Meetings are run by volunteers and provide an opportunity for you to discuss issues and influence decisions affecting climbers and walkers locally and nationally

Wes Cole likes challenges. He has done the Marathon des Sables and this year completed the Winter Spine

Local climber and runner Wes Cole shares his experience of completing the full 268-mile 2026 Winter Spine Race, exploring the highs, lows and lessons from one of Britain’s toughest endurance challenges.
It's free to come along! See you there.
The meeting will start at 7pm, but members are welcome to come earlier to socialise. All are welcome.

We currently have vacancies for a local Climbing Wall Rep & Clubs Rep these roles can be shared by more than one person.
We would love to encourage anyone who would like to get involved with the local area to get in touch, even if you can't commit to one of the vacant roles. We welcome anyone who wants to volunteer for the area, there is always something to do.

Rock Climbing
Since the publication of Rock Climbs on the Eastern Edges in 1960, the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) has been the custodian of definitive climbing guidebooks for the Peak District. For more than 60 years, these publications have provided climbers with accurate, community-led route information and trusted access advice.

Mend Our Mountains Articles
The dramatic skyline of the Great Ridge walk connects the summits of Lose Hill and Mam Tor in Derbyshire’s Hope Valley. Heavy footfall left the path in a badly eroded state and work to repair the damage to the path started in March this year, and has seen 500 metres of the most serious damage along the path repaired to protect the surrounding landscape and bordering habitat.

The best way to find out what happens at BMC area meetings is to go along to one. They are open to all, and you’re encouraged, and very welcome, to attend.
