What does a BMC Hill Walking Rep do?

A BMC local area hill walking rep is a locally knowledgeable walker able to help resolve access issues and look after the hill walking in your area. The role contributes to keeping walking accessible for the whole community and supports the conservation of the local walking area and promotes/leads hill walking events.

Key tasks and responsibilities of the role

  • Report rights of way and other issues to the relevant authority and the BMC
  • Promote walking activities for members to get involved with
  • Support BMC organised walking events/activities
  • You may also want to help organise: local social walks and/or conservation days
  • You are the voice of hill walking at your local area meeting
