As a BMC member you get exclusive access to our three huts: Glen Brittle Memorial Hut on the Isle of Skye, the Don Whillans Memorial Hut at the Roaches and the Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut in the Scottish Highlands. If you’re a member of a mountaineering club you may also have access to even more huts around the country.

BMC Huts Fundraiser
The BMC and Mountaineering Scotland are joining forces to raise £60,000 for urgent refurbishments to our members-only Don Whillans and Alex MacIntyre Memorial Huts to keep them open for future generations.
National Huts
These iconic and historic buildings are there for you as a member to use and enjoy. Each hut is run by a management committee, with the two Scottish huts jointly funded and administered in partnership with Mountaineering Scotland. BMC members, both club and individual, can book places and check availability using each huts online booking system.
Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut
Situated in Onich, on the A82 between Glen Coe and Fort William, the Alex MacIntyre Hut makes an ideal base for both areas of Scotland.
Don Whillans Memorial Hut
Located at The Roaches in Staffordshire, the Don Whillans Hut is a unique building, superbly located amongst the buttresses and boulders of this historic climbing area - you can almost belay from the hut!
Glen Brittle Memorial Hut
Located at the lower end of Glen Brittle, the Memorial Hut is ideally situated for exploring the Black Cuillin on the Isle of Skye.

The Clubs & Huts Forum is aimed at those who are running club activities, whether on the committee or management group, operating the club hut, organising and leading club meets or social events or any other role within their club or hut. However, even if you don't have that type of role in your club, we still welcome you joining us.

The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) is calling on The Welsh Government to amend the proposed Visitor Accommodation (Register and Levy) Etc. (Wales) Bill, currently under scrutiny in the Senedd. While the Bill aims to ensure a fairer distribution of tourism costs between visitors and residents, it risks unintended consequences for volunteer-run, non-profit, and educational accommodations in Wales.

HUT FAQs
Some club huts do allow non-club members to stay in their huts if you are a BMC member and there is space. It is worth reaching out to the club secretary and enquiring. You can find all the details in our hut finder list above. Often members of the clubs can bring guests who are not members of the club too.
