2019 national climbing competition schedule

The BMC is pleased to present the calendar for national competitions in 2019.

Please note each competition has a specified closing date and time. Entries need to be made online via the BMC website and we do not accept late or on-the-day entries.

National climbing competitions:

Youth Climbing Series

Click here for information on regional rounds.

Welsh Climbing Championships
9 February, Caernarfon.

Youth Open Bouldering
16 February, Manchester.

6 April at The Big Depot climbing wall in Leeds

Youth Climbing Series Grand Final

27 and 28 April in Sheffield.
Via invitation only.

Junior British Bouldering Championships 

22 June at Harrowall, London.
Entries close on Monday 17 June at 5pm.

La Sportiva BMC British Bouldering Championships

6/7 July at Cliffhanger Festival, Sheffield.
Entries close on Monday 1 July at 5pm.

British Lead and Speed Climbing Championships

21-22 September at the Beacon Climbing Centre, Caernarfon
Entries close on Monday 16 September at 5pm.

Cancellation policy

If you cancel with less than five business days of the competition, you will not be entitled to a refund. If you cancel with more than five business days of the competition then you will receive a 100% refund. Any questions, please email: comps@thebmc.co.uk

The GB Paraclimbing Team is supported by Oakwood Climbing Centre and Quay Climbing Centre. The GB Ice Climbing Team is supported by Montane. Many UK walls also support the GB Climbing through free or subsidised entry.

Last year, blind climber Jesse Dufton led every pitch of the classic East Face Route (E1 5b) on the Old Man of Hoy, placing all his own gear. Renowned adventure filmmaker Alastair Lee made a cracking film, supported by Montane and BMC TV, based around the ascent, which has been scooping up awards and is, amazingly for a climbing film, going to be shown on British telly. To top off the good news story, Jesse has just won a BMC Volunteer Award.
