The Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) is reaching its finale at the Ludovika Campus in Budapest this week. A total of 48 top climbers from around the globe will vie for their last chance to secure a spot in the Boulder & Lead event for Paris 2024.

The climbers will earn their Olympic quotas based on a points system, where a maximum of 100 points can be accumulated. The winners of the first round in Shanghai last month gained 50 points, and another 50 points are up for grabs in Budapest.

Great Britain's Erin McNeice, who celebrated her first-ever international podium finish in Shanghai, brings a strong 41 points into Budapest. Meanwhile, Hamish McArthur, who finished 8th, aims to improve his standing in Hungary and add to his points tally.

Joining McNeice in the women’s competition is Molly Thompson-Smith who placed 13th taking 28 points in Shanghai. For the women’s Boulder & Lead provisional standings click here.

In the men’s competition, Jack MacDougall looks to build on 28th (13 points), Max Milne 38th (3 points) and Jim Pope on 40th (1 point). For the men’s Boulder & Lead provisional standings click here.

Paul Ratcliffe, Chief Executive Officer of the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), said:

“I know that the team will relish this opportunity to compete in Budapest, and I’d like to recognise all the Personal Coaches and GB Climbing coaches for the hard work and expertise they have put in to prepare the athletes for the event. Also, thank you to Parthian Climbing and the setters for hosting the OQS training simulations and helping get our athletes ready for this competition.

“I would like to wish Erin, Molly, Hamish, Jack, Max, and Jim the best of luck as they step out onto the mats on Thursday.”

The top twelve Qualification will be limited to two Sport Climbing athletes per nation per gender for Boulder & Lead combined.

The OQS in Budapest, Hungary will play out from 20-23 June and is the final chance for sport climbing athletes to secure an Olympic quota for Paris 2024. The event will culminate on Olympic Day, Sunday 23 June.
