The Climbing World Championships and Paraclimbing World Championships were recently held in Paris. Nine GB Team climbers competed in the World Championships and three climbers in the Paraclimbing Championships - including Fran Brown.

All the GB Team athletes have competed now and the big news is that Fran Brown has just become Paraclimbing World Champion by coming first in the female physical-disability category.

This is fantastic news and all at the BMC send their congratulations.

I believe Ed Hamer is competing as well.

Ed has decided to concentrate on his commitments to his new sponsors and climbing outdoors, rather than competing in Paris.

Well done Fran and the rest of the team. Keep up the training Fran. With the level of coverage received I can only see competition increasing. Would be great to build up both the women's and men's team in all categories. Graeme

Just out of interest is she the first climbing world champion from GB for any climbing discipline? Does anyone know what other 'world' competition winners we have had from GB in the past? Bouldering/Lead etc? Does the BMC keep a record?
