The GB SkiMo team put on a determined display at the fourth ISMF World Cup of the 2024/25 season, held in Boí Taüll, Spain, on 1 - 2 February 2025. Known for its high-altitude terrain and consistent snow conditions, Boí Taüll provided a dramatic backdrop for intense competition against the world’s elite. With gutsy performances across individual and relay events, the British athletes demonstrated steady progress as they continue their climb toward the sport’s Olympic debut in 2026.

In the senior women's Sprint, Claudia Chmielowska led the British contingent, securing 34th place with a time of 3 minutes and 58 seconds. She was followed by Ursula Catton in 46th place, clocking 4 minutes and 19 seconds, and Gabriel Muskett in 56th place with a time of 5 minutes and 28 seconds.

On the men's side, Iain Innes was the fastest Briton, finishing 61st with a time of 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Christian Kober completed the race in 4 minutes and 10 seconds, placing 81st.

The Mixed Relay event saw Chmielowska and Innes team up to achieve 28th place, narrowly missing qualification for the finals by just 8 seconds, with a combined time of 15 minutes and 52 seconds. This marks a strong improvement from their previous standing in Andorra. The duo of Catton and Kober finished in 48th place, recording a time of 19 minutes and 50 seconds.

Reflecting on the weekend's events, Iain Innes expressed pride in the team's progress:

"We’re really proud of our results in the Pyrenees. These were our first ever Mixed Relay races and we’re very happy to be in the mix with the big alpine nations. We’re excited to show what we can do at the Olympic Test Event in Bormio."

Looking ahead

The GB SkiMo team is set to compete in Bormio, Italy, on 22 -23 February 2025, for the Milano Cortina 2026 test event. With less than a year until Ski Mountaineering's Olympic debut, this event serves as a crucial opportunity for the team to showcase their capabilities on the international stage. You can follow the action live via the Olympic Channel or the ISMF YouTube channel, covering both individual sprint events and the mixed team relay.

Bormio represents the fifth stop of the 2024/25 ISMF World Cup season, which will then pause ahead of the World Championships in Morgins, Switzerland, scheduled from 1 – 9 March 2025.
