You are invited to join a peer-led walk, hosted by West Bromwich Mountaineering Club, with member, John Edwards, guiding the route. This social walk, which is part of the club’s annual evening program of walks and will explore an area of surviving greenery in the Black Country, before concluding with enjoying the (by the time we arrive) illuminated view of the Black Country and Birmingham, from the top of Sedgley Beacon. We’re excited to welcome you for a memorable evening walk and for those who can stay on for a little while, drinks at the Beacon Hotel afterwards.

What to Bring

We’ll cover a range of terrains, so please ensure you are well-prepared with appropriate gear:

Footwear: Water-resistant hiking boots or shoes with good grip.

Clothing: Dress in layers, including waterproofs, as conditions can vary. Even if weather warm, long trousers and tops recommended, as this late in the year, some paths a little overgrown with brambles and nettles

Food and Drink: Bring enough food and water for a few hours hike, particularly if you don’t have time for your evening meal, before joining, as there is no plan to refreshments en route. For afterwards, there is a fish and chip shop opposite and the pub serves a range of cobs (please phone to pre-order, so they can ensure enough – 01902 883880).

Other Essentials: Although we plan to finish within daylight hours, carrying a small torch or ideally, a head torch is required, as the nights are drawing in and the last part of the walk is an unlit area and we will finish in the dark.

Insect repellent may be beneficial, if a still evening, and the midges are out.
