BMC Physical Training for Climbing 1 workshop

This workshop is for any climber or coach wishing to further their knowledge of physical training.
Whilst most gains for any climber will be found by developing their technique, tactics and mental approach, this workshop addresses how to create performance adaptation through physical training.
In terms of the LTPD model (Long Term Participant Development) covered in FUNdamentals 1, this course moves away from the ‘Fundamentals stage’ onto the ‘Learning to Train stage’. However this course covers the basic information required for a coach to have a fundamental understanding of the science behind and practical application of physical training.
The course is split into two parts.
- The morning covers the theory behind the body’s energy systems, anatomy and types of climbing training
- The afternoon includes wall based sessions, giving coaches a practical understanding of theory. Areas covered include body conditioning, strength, endurance and power/strength endurance
At the end of the day you will be able to plan training sessions for your clients and groups. Our Physical Training for Climbing 2 workshop goes into much greater depth on all aspects to do with training plans, diet, climbing physiology and much more.
Please note you will need the following equipment on the day; harness, belay device, climbing shoes. Tablets and smartphones may be useful for notes and filming purposes.
