BMC FUNdamentals of Climbing 2
For all climbing coaches, this workshop is delivered by the BMC and Mountaineering Scotland. This workshop forms part of the training pathway for Mountain Training's Climbing Coach award.
The FUNdamentals is stage one of the Long Term Participant Development (LTPD) model, which has been applied to many sports and refers to optimal training opportunities within a child’s development. FUNdamentals 2 looks in greater detail at the sport specific requirements of climbing movement. Without a good grounding in technique a climber can never reach their potential. You need to have attended the FUNdamentals of Climbing 1 workshop to attend this second workshop.
The learning outcomes for the Fundamentals 2 Workshop are that you will be able to:
- Explain, demonstrate and evaluate key climbing movement principles
- Identify and apply appropriate activities to develop the FUNdamentals of climbing movement
Please note you will need the following equipment on the day; harness, belay device, climbing shoes. Tablets and smartphones may be useful for notes and filming purposes.
