If you want to learn about the fundamentals of route setting, then we've got the workshop for you.

The BMC Route Setting for Coaching workshop is for anyone route setting or wishes to route set at climbing walls.

Whether a teacher who might work alone and wants to set some problems to teach a specific technique, or staff at a climbing wall teaching the NICAS scheme, anyone who does some coaching and wants to improve their route setting ability in developing technical climbing problems will benefit from the workshop.

When set well, routes and problems have a positive impact upon a climber's development. The workshop will broaden participant knowledge and provide valuable personal and professional development.

Route Setting for Coaching is not a training workshop for rope work skills required for working at height, it is about how to set interesting technical climbs teaching specific techniques. There is some Health and Safety information discussed and safe working practices as the workshop is very practical and clients will be setting problems on the climbing wall.

To get the most out of the workshop you should have had a little route setting experience, and want to improve this and ideally you should be able to boulder V3 /V4  (6b routes).
