The Women's Climbing Symposium is coming to Sheffield
WCS is back for 2025 with a jam-packed roster of creative coaching workshops, inspiring speakers and thought-provoking focus talks.
This year's flagship Women’s Climbing Symposium will take place at The Climbing Hangar, Sheffield on Saturday 8th March - International Women's Day. The event is open to anyone who identifies as a woman and welcomes all ages, backgrounds, bodies and interests.
What is WCS?
For over 12 years the Women's Climbing Symposium has embraced the global climbing community, sourcing speakers and coaches from all backgrounds to nurture innovation and create a diverse, interesting and exciting event. This year, the event theme is 'Grow'.
Climbers can expect a full day of coaching workshops, focus talks and headline speakers all carefully curated by the WCS team. The event's ethos is to connect, develop and inspire women climbers, and is also a brilliant opportunity to meet and climb with others in a friendly and welcoming space. As well as scheduled workshops and talks, there will be creative elements, diverse and inspiring stories from the climbing community, prizes and giveaways, fantastic food from TCH Sheffield and opportunities to find out more about training opportunities and partner activities in the climbing world.
Workshops
This year, WCS is once again bringing together a team of expert women climbing coaches from across the country. They'll be delivering workshops on movement, head game and flexibility, and ticket holders can choose two workshops to attend during the day.
Coaching groups are kept to small numbers, so that everyone has the opportunity for feedback and support in a more relaxing, intimate atmosphere.
Focus talks
WCS focus talks spotlight diverse and exciting people, projects and topics within the women's climbing community. This year's talk topics include psychology, physiotherapy, route setting, climbing as a deaf person, lifelong climbing adventures and female hormones, as well as breaking the stigma around pee, poo and periods in the great outdoors! Again, participants can choose to attend two focus talks during the day.
Headline speakers
Headline speakers to deliver inspirational talks to the whole WCS audience at each event. Check out the WCS Instagram channel for the latest updates on headline speakers...
NEWSFLASH: One very exciting guest has already been announced, and there are more to come!
Tickets and bursaries
There are 150 tickets on sale for this event, and they are selling fast! Buy your tickets here.
Ticket sales include an option to support another climber by donating to bursary places. Full and partially-funded bursary places are awarded on an application basis and are primarily aimed at those who cannot afford to attend and come from underrepresented backgrounds, and for whom the event would be a game changer in their personal climbing journey - you can find out more here.
Want to know more?
Check out the WCS FAQ's if you have any questions about the event, or you can drop the team an email if there’s something else you’d like to ask!
