Leave a legacy to the BMC Access & Conservation Trust (ACT) to help footpath repair and conservation projects become a reality for future generations of hill walkers and climbers.

Leaving a legacy

Leave a legacy to the BMC Access & Conservation Trust (ACT) to help footpath repair and conservation projects become a reality for future generations of hill walkers and climbers. This will help protect access to cliffs and mountains for future generations. Legacy income is essential for the long term future of ACT and will allow us to continue our important work, thank you so much for considering a donation in your will.

Your gift will make a real difference

A gift in your will is an incredible way to help protect those aspects of our mountain and cliff environments that you have cherished over the years. The BMC Access & Conservation Trust (ACT) has been running for over 15 years and has already made a real difference including:

  • Work in 10 of our National Parks to protect and repair footpaths and improve biodiversity and conservation
  • Research into the carbon emissions of the mountaineering sector
  • Access & conservation improvement projects at popular climbing venues such as Avon Gorge and the Pembrokeshire coast
  • Get Stuck In projects enabling BMC volunteers to assist National Trust and Fix the Fells rangers in upland footpath repair and conservation work
  • Mend Our Mountains - funding to essential footpath repair projects across England and Wales, such a new bridge at Cressbrook Mill, footpath repair around Haytor Rocks, stepping stones through the bog in Eryri, improvements near the Watkin Path up Yr Wyddfa, path repair on Roseberry Topping and boardwalks and all-terrain mobility scooter routes in the Cotswolds
  • The Climate Project - the campaign to lock in more carbon and increase biodiversity by planting sphagnum moss in the Peak District and seagrass along the North Wales Coastline
The main path up to Roseberry Topping, revitalised with Mend Our Mountains funding

This type of work will help us to continue to make beautiful places accessible and protected for future climbers and walkers, as well as help to protect the landscapes and wildlife you know and love for years to come.

All legacy income given to the BMC Access & Conservation Trust will be spent directly on projects to protect your cliffs and mountains across the United Kingdom. Any charitable gift that you decide to leave in your will is exempt from inheritance tax.

If there is a location of particular importance to you then please let us know. We want your wishes to be reflected in our future work.
