We’ve been working on some special offers for BMC members with our partners at Plas y Brenin, the National Outdoor Centre. Keep reading to discover how to access discounted skills courses for yourself or get a great deal when you take your club to Plas y Brenin.

Special offers for BMC members

As a BMC members, you’ll get very exclusive access to a new list of preferential prices on a range of carefully selected Plas y Brenin courses across the year. With discounts of around 20% on the list price of courses, you could be saving over £100 per person. We’ll email these details to all our members when they’re available – or DM us on social with your membership number.

Privately book an expert Plas y Brenin Instructor, from just £270 for a full day out.

10% discount on equipment hire through Plas y Brenin stores. Kit available to hire includes (when you flash your BMC Membership card):

More discounts for club members

Plas y Brenin is a perfect place for a club meet. To help clubs, we’ve arranged:

  • Train the Trainer days, or multi-day courses, tailored to meet the needs of club members, for example single-pitch climbing, BMC Fundamentals Training, Safeguarding training, and much more. Delivery available either on-site at Plas y Brenin, or at a venue of your choice.
  • Opportunities for the exclusive use of Plas y Brenin meeting rooms and training spaces when staying with us on-site, subject to availability.
  • Hire of Moelwyn Bunkhouse (sleeps 16) at £190 per night (usual price £276).
  • A free hour of coaching or instruction on-site when staying at Plas y Brenin – minimum group size 4, must be booked at least six weeks in advance. Subject to availability.

What does a Mountain Training coaching qualification give you?

If you were thinking about signing up to become a coach with Mountain Training, here's just a few of the key things you'll be able to get out of it:

  • One registration fee gives you access to both Foundation Coach and Development Coach levels.
  • Flexible start points for those with lots of previous coaching experience (through an accredited prior learning process).
  • A bouldering pathway for those who only want to coach bouldering.
  • Minimum age 16.
  • Focus on climber-centred coaching.
