From swimming naked in Snowdonia, to taking the first steps in a lifetime of mountaineering, there's only one word to describe the entries to our Women in Mountain Adventure Films competition: inspiring. We had 14 diverse entries.

Anyone who has visited the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (ShAFF), or any other film festival, will realise that adventure films come in all shapes and sizes, however, just a fifth of the films screened at ShAFF feature female protagonists, or are made by women.

In an attempt to rebalance this, the BMC, with ShAFF, WomenClimb, Sport Is Beautiful and a range of other partners, including sponsor Mountain Warehouse, set up the Women in Mountain Adventure Films competition. The deadline has passed and the entries have now all been uploaded to BMC TV, visit the BMC TV competition channel or check them all out below.

Thanks to our judging panel of Mina Leslie-Wujastyk (BMC Vice President), Mark Turnbull (Producer of the legendary Hard Grit) and Matt Heason (ShAFF Director).

The films will also be shown at events celebrating International Women's Day - see a list of the events on the Womenclimb website.
