Safeguarding Group
About the BMC Safeguarding Group
The Safeguarding Group provides strategic oversight and coordination for all safeguarding matters within the BMC and the broader outdoor sector. As a formal Board committee, it meets quarterly to support the staff Safeguarding Team and ensure industry-leading standards.
Our Network
To foster collaboration and share best practices, the group includes representatives from:
- Sector Partners: NICAS, Association of British Climbing Walls (ABC), Mountain Training and the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI)
- National Bodies: GB Climbing, BMC Clubs Committee, Mountaineering Scotland, and Mountaineering Ireland.
- Independent Voices: A legal barrister, a young person, and a parent to ensure diverse perspectives.
