New Personal Accident benefits for BMC members include Physio and Osteo cover

The BMC is making your membership even better with brand-new benefits to optimise support for climbers and walkers.
New benefits launched
From 1 April 2025, BMC membership will include even more support, helping you recover, stay on track, and get back to doing what you love. Your current personal accident cover already provides up to £10,000 of financial support that also includes dental treatment and hospitalisation fees for injuries sustained after an accident whilst hill walking, climbing, mountaineering or ski-mountaineering.
Now, we are adding the following benefits:
Physiotherapy/Osteopathy Treatment – Up to £500 for treatment recommended by a GP and provided by a chartered physiotherapist or registered osteopath (£50 excess)
Event Fees Cover – £150 for BMC, Mountain Training, BAIML, AMI, and BMG courses, assessments or events you are unable to attend
Climbing Wall Membership Fees – Up to £250 for non-refundable fees if an accident stops you from participating.
Optical Expenses – Up to £500 to help with costs if needed for medical eye injury costs or replacement glasses after an accident
Counselling Cover – Up to £250 per week (£5,000 max) to support your mental well-being following an accident or traumatic event
Equipment Cover – £250 towards damaged or abandoned gear
Prosthesis Support – Up to £5,000 towards providing or replacing a prosthesis
Return Home Costs – £50 towards transport if you need assistance getting home

Pre-existing and current personal accident cover for BMC members
The above are in addition to the pre-existing Personal Accident cover that you have as a BMC member. Following an accident that occurs whilst hillwalking, climbing, mountaineering or ski-mountaineering and results in your bodily injury, BMC Individual members have access to the following benefits:
Permanent Total Disability - £10,000 from regular gainful employment (Maximum age 70 years)
Loss of limb(s) - Up to £10,000
Loss of sight - Eye(s) - Up to £10,000
Loss of speech or hearing in both ears – Up to (Maximum age 70 years)
Emergency Dental Expenses – Up to £500* (£50 Excess) for up to 2 accidents in any one year
Retraining – Up to £10,000*
Accident Medical Expenses – Up to £2,500*
Coma cover - £350* per day (max 104 weeks)
Hospitalisation - £50* per day (max 104 weeks)
Convalescence - £100* per week
*Reduced by 50% for those aged 70 and over
