Will Bosi has become the second Brit to climb 9b with an ascent of the Adam Ondra route La Capella in Siurana, Spain, also becoming the first Brit to climb 9b abroad.

Will Bosi, 21 years old from Edinburgh, spent two sessions on the route before the ascent and was working against the clock (as today was the last day of his month trip to Spain) as well as poor skin due to the amount of time spent on the rock in his time in Spain. La Capella was first climbed by Adam Ondra in 2011 and has since only been repeated by Stefano Ghisolfi in January 2018 and Daniel Woods in February 2018.

After completing the route, Will commented; “I just can’t stop smiling! This route has been a lifetime goal of mine and climbing it means so much to me.”

Impressive effort from Will to send 9b despite some pretty trashed skin!

Will's previous hardest grade outdoors was 9a. Bosi became the youngest Brit to climb the grade with Rainshadow at Malham in 2018 before repeating the grade with the iconic Hubble at Raven Tor and a first repeat of Malcolm Smith's Hunger at the Anvil, Loch Goil. Steve McClure became the first Brit to climb 9b with an ascent of his own route, Rainman at Malham Cove.

Will Bosi is sponsored by Adidas Terrex, Entre-Prises, Beta Outdoors, Hard Bar, Friction Labs and Lattice Training.
