YDYCH CHI’N BWRIADU MYND I FYNY’R WYDDFA Y GAEAF HWN? PARATEWCH
Mae’r BMC yn annog unrhyw un sy’n anelu i ddringo mynydd uchaf Cymru yn y gaeaf i baratoi yn iawn.
Wrth i'r gaeaf neshau, mae gan fynyddoedd dan orchudd eira apêl hollol newydd, yn enwedig ein copa uchaf, Yr Wyddfa. Er mwyn dringo’r bryniau pan fo eira a rhew, mae angen offer, sgiliau, gwybodaeth ac ymwybyddiaeth arbenigol sydd yn ychwanegol at y sgiliau a ddefnyddir wrth gerdded mynyddoedd yn yr haf, a gall camgymeriadau fod yn llawer mwy difrifol.
“Gall eira a rhew drawsnewid mynyddoedd yn gyfan gwbl, gan ychwanegu dimensiwn ychwanegol o ran golygfeydd,” meddai Elfyn Jones, Swyddog Mynediad a Chadwraeth BMC Cymru. “Gallant fod yn lefydd hyfryd i fod ynddynt, ond gallant hefyd gyflwyno peryglon nad ydynd yn bresenol yn yr haf.
“Mae llawer o bobl yn meddwl bod yr Wyddfa yn fynydd hawdd i’w ddringo oherwydd fod llwybrau llydan i’r copa a chaffi ar ei ben. Ond mae’r Wyddfa yn y gaeaf yn lle gwahanol iawn i’r Wyddfa ar ddiwrnod heulog o haf.”
Mae poblogrwydd cynyddol Yr Wyddfa yn golygu bod y mynydd 1,085m (3,560tr) o uchder yn derbyn mwy na'i gyfran deg o ymwelwyr, ac yn anffodus nid yw rhai ohonynt wedi'u paratoi i ddelio â'r amodau llym, sy'n aml yn beryglus.
“Mae’r tywydd yn llawer gwaeth, gyda gwyntoedd cryfion, tymheredd is-sero a stormydd eira yn gyffredin. Gall gwelededd fod yn wael iawn, gan wneud llywio yn heriol. Ac yn aml gall eira a rhew orchuddio'r llwybrau, nid yn unig yn cuddio'r ffordd ond hefyd yn ffurfio llethrau llithrig a allai fod yn beryglus, y mae angen bwyell iâ a chrampons arnoch i'w dilyn yn ddiogel. Mewn eira trwm gall fod perygl o eirlithriadau," eglura Elfyn.
“Mae’r timau Achub Mynydd yn cael eu cadw’n brysur yn gyson yn y gaeaf yn ymateb i alwadau a achosir gan bobl yn ceisio dringo’r Wyddfa heb wybod beth yn union yw maint yr her. Gellid osgoi'r galwadau hyn rhag digwydd yn hawdd pe bai pobl yn paratoi a chael gwybodaeth ychwanegol ymlaen llaw.
“Dydyn ni ddim yn dweud ‘peidiwch â mynd i fyny’r Wyddfa yn y gaeaf’. Os ydych chi'n meddwl bod y golygfeydd yn dda yn yr haf, fe ddylech chi eu gweld o dan haen o eira - gall fod yn hynod brydferth. Rydyn ni jest yn dweud ‘paratewch’.”
Dywedodd Rob Johnson, Cadeirydd TAM Llanberis: “Mae Tîm Achub Mynydd Llanberis yn cytuno gyda’r BMC bod mynyddoedd y gaeaf yn cynnig profiad anhygoel. Rydym yn awyddus i unrhyw un sy'n ymgymryd â'r her a'r uchelgais o gael dringo'r Wyddfa yn y gaeaf i wneud hynny gydag ymwybyddiaeth ynghylch pa mor heriol y gall yr amodau hynny fod.
“Yr wythnos diwethaf fe gyrhaeddodd y gwyntoedd copa 100mya ac ar hyn o bryd mae eira a rhew ar bob un o’r llwybrau. Mae'n bwysig bod gan bobl yr offer priodol fel bwyell iâ, cramponau, dillad gwrth-ddŵr, dillad wedi'u hinswleiddio, map, cwmpawd ac yn bwysicaf oll, arbenigedd am sut i'w defnyddio.
“Rydym hefyd yn annog pobl i seilio eu cynlluniau ar ragolygon tywydd cyfoes a chyfateb eu hamcan â’r amodau a’u profiad. Peidiwch byth â bod ofn troi’n ôl a chofiwch ei bod hi’n aml yn fwy heriol disgyn mewn eira a rhew nag yw hi i esgyn.”
Mae'r BMC yn hyrwyddo arferion da yn y gaeaf trwy amrywiaeth o sianeli. Un o'r ffyrdd gorau o gael y sgiliau sydd eu hangen arnoch yw i ddysgu gan hyfforddwyr proffesiynol trwy fynychu cwrs sgiliau gaeaf.

This Welsh 3,000s challenge is one of the best and most testing runs in Eryri (Snowdonia). It takes in all of the region's 3,000ft+ peaks, starting with Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and ending on Foel Fras in the Carneddau. Technical and rocky in places, boggy in others; it's a tricky and technical undertaking requiring good navigation skills, and completing it successfully is not a foregone conclusion for even expert runners.
