About the North Wales Area
BMC North Wales meetings tend to be short and sweet with minimal agendas and everyone gets fed. We try to hold them in the evenings so people have time to go for a walk or a climb before hand. We have led the way in the appointment of a third Access and Conservation Officer for the BMC. We have lobbied to get the Mountain Leader Training Hillwalking book translated into Welsh. On the crags we have promoted and support the Tremadog Revival works, re-bolting work, in the slate Quarries and on the Orme. When we say we, we mean you because none of these things happen without volunteer effort. We have a small hard core of keen helpers but we always need more.
Upcoming North Wales area meetings
Area Meetings are run by volunteers and provide an opportunity for you to discuss issues and influence decisions affecting climbers and walkers locally and nationally, and to meet like-minded people and enjoy a sociable night out (or 'in' on Zoom). Area Meetings also provide the platform for election to a range of volunteer roles within the BMC.

The next BMC Cymru North Wales Area Meeting will take place on Wednesday 23rd October in person, at the Beacon Climbing Centre, Caernarfon (LL55 2BD). The meeting will start at 7.30pm.

North Wales area volunteer roles available
Would you like to get more involved in the work of the BMC? If you are interested in a volunteer roles, please come along to the relevant Area Meeting and speak with the current Chair or Secretary. If you are unable to attend please email volunteering@thebmc.co.uk and ask to be put in contact with your local area.
Area volunteers undertake vital roles in the democratic structure of the BMC and the work we do on behalf of members and the wider climbing, hill walking and mountaineering community. Each area holds an AGM, at which elections for a range of volunteer roles are held, and outside of these meetings, members can be co-opted into roles.
