This social walk will follow the river out of the village then up through woodland to the Hayfield 'Dragon's Back' and over the Ethels of Mount Famine, South Head, Brown Knoll and Kinder Low before descending through Tunstead Farm back to Hayfield.

Over the first weekend of spring, 19 young climbers aged 10 to 17 came together in Wooler for the annual BMC North East / Rock Solid Northumberland Youth Meet 2025. With the iconic sandstone crags of Northumberland as their playground, the group enjoyed two days of climbing, learning and laughter – with just enough rain to provide a valuable lesson in outdoor ethics.

The England Climbing Trials are the key selection event for the England Climbing Foundation and Development Programmes. Aimed at young athletes in the U13 and U15 age categories, the Trials offer a great opportunity to test their skills, grow through competition, and take part in a fun and supportive environment designed to encourage their long-term development in the sport.
