Abbie Robinson and sight guide Jay Jackson claimed their fourth gold medal of the 2026 Para Climbing World Series season in Gunsan, South Korea.

Competing in the women's B2 category, Robinson and Jackson secured their place in the final after topping the first qualification route and scoring 46 on the second.

The pair produced another impressive performance in the final, topping the route to take gold. The victory marks the duos fourth international gold medal of the season and the 13th of Abbie’s career.

Speaking after the final, Abbie said:

"Sometimes there is definitely a sense of pressure, but I think we've both worked hard to manage that. The narrative in my head is that I want to push for the top, rather than focus on not falling off. I don't want to be climbing not to lose.

"Today was a good example of that. We did a great job of mapping out the route beforehand, and I spent a lot of time visualising it. It played out almost exactly as I'd planned in my head. I was so psyched to reach the top move – the dynamic running jump. My whole aim was to get there.

"It's really cool to see the routesetters stepping up the challenge for B2 women. The athletes coming through in the category are pushing the level, so it's great to see the routesetters responding with some really interesting moves. Maybe they've been watching me practising my paddle dynos on Instagram!"

Abbie also highlighted the work that takes place behind the scenes with Jay whose role as her sight guide is central to their success.

"People don't always see what we do in the background, particularly the work Jay puts in. By the time we get on the route, the aim is for us to have as little left to work out as possible.

"We've already done the route-reading, mapping and visualisation in isolation. Jay helps fill in the gaps in what I can't see, but ideally everything has been rehearsed and worked through beforehand.

"That's something people don't necessarily see - all the hard work that goes into building our relationship and understanding the route. We want to execute something we've already rehearsed, so that on the day it feels like I've climbed it before. I think we did that really well today."

Jay echoed Robinson's comments, emphasising the importance of preparation and the challenges of competing at the highest level, saying:

"The execution of climbing a route in competition is very different from climbing a route at your local wall at home. Assuming Abbie can simply climb a route is unhelpful, because I could miss giving her information that is critical to success in that moment.

"The expectation that we can already do something takes away from the challenge. It should be about finding something exciting and new, pushing the boundaries of what Abbie can do, what B2 women can do and what I can contribute as a sight guide. That's really cool.

"Delivering on a route in competition conditions is also very different from climbing that same route back home at the wall."

There were strong performances across the GB Climbing team, with Isabella Walsh (AU2), Sebastian Musson (AU2), Luke Jamieson (RP1) and Lucy Keyworth (RP1) all finishing sixth in their categories.

The team now head to Fukuoka, Japan, for the final Para Climbing World Series event of the 2026 season.
