BMC members are invited to join a Crag Clean up, hosted by BMC South West Area volunteers, with local BMC volunteer Nigel Barry.

When

Join us for this clean up project on: Saturday 1st February 2025

Meeting point and start time

Time: 9:50am for a 10:00am start
Location: National Trust Car Park Brean Down (TA8 2RS) - the end of the public road.

Facilities: Toilets are available at the car park.

No public transport

What will the work involve?

A litter pick along the cliff base of Brean Down, as litter collects around the tidal boulders at the base of climbing spots at Brean Down. The Cliff base is only a short walk across a sand beach, then up the scree. Depending on the Severn there may be some mud.

What to bring

Footwear: Sturdy, water-resistant hiking boots or shoes with good traction. Wellies suggested for this event, due to the probability of mud.

Clothing: Dress in layers, including waterproofs, as conditions can vary; bring a hat and gloves.

Food and Drink: Bring enough food and water for a full day’s hike;  refreshments can be purchased in the NT cafe in the carpark
Other Essentials: The event is planned to finish well within the hours of available daylight, but daylight hours at this time of year are short so participants **must** bring a small torch/head torch in case an emergency results in a very severe delay to the event.

Who can come

This event is open to BMC members and accompanying friends, over 18. No dogs.

BMC Participation Statement
The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
