An update on the Member and Stakeholder Consultation on the GB Climbing Proposal
In April, the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) published the GB Climbing proposal, the purpose of which is to set out proposed changes to GB Climbing in preparation for the LA 2028 Olympic cycle.
The proposed model aims to establish a Performance Department with clear accountability whilst ensuring support for grassroots development and competitions. The document suggests aligning with successful practices in other National Governing Bodies (NGBs).

In order for members and stakeholders to feedback a short survey was available for members and stakeholders to complete, which closed on the 01 July 2024.
A total of 138 people completed the consultation, with all proposals being supported with the exception of removing the GB Climbing name, which respondents felt was a good brand.
The feedback is currently being reviewed and a report will be submitted to the BMC Board of Directors for their meeting on the 21 September 2024, after which date further details will be shared on the BMC website.
